I must confess… I have had this little bottle of Black Pepper Essential Oil sitting there, staring at me FOREVER! I was a little scared to use it.

Black Pepper

I mean… look at it!  That stuff must be strong, right?! Then came the fleeting thoughts: kids aren’t going to like it, I will ruin yet another dinner, but just “What if?”

The 4th of July was just around the corner, and there was no way I was going to try a new recipe on the 4th. So, we waited until the weekend before we gave it a whirl, and let me tell you….. yum yum yum yum YUM!!

Burger Kid friendly

I thawed out 2 pounds of ground beef, added in about 1/4 cup of onion and a clove of garlic. *Huge shout out to my dear friend Megan for going back and estimating how much I used, I totally cook by smell and taste!

Next, add in 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and 7 drops of black pepper essential oil. Oh yeah, and don’t forget the cheese!  Thats a good size handful in there. We love cheese around here!

Mix it all up then pat it out into patties I usually put a thumb print dimple in the top of my patty so that it catches the juices that will try to escape and trap the flavor in!

Then in the pan they go!

Now you also get HUGE brownie points as your kitchen is now going to smell like a chef has been in there and there will be no one else to blame but you! You can thank me later.

About this time the kids came running asking what that amazing smell was! I have NEVER seen them set the dinner table so quickly!  By far the best burgers we have ever eaten! And this recipe is totally kid friendly!

Now for those who don’t have to worry about satisfying the kiddos taste buds (or for that time that I fixed them hotdogs so I could have a serious burger) here is the “maxed out” adult recipe:

Basically, double it all and try not to cry as you cut up those onions!

Enjoy!
