Hey there! Do you have kids? Me too!

Do they sometimes scare you to death? Me too!!

Mine scare me in so many ways, mostly being a reflection of what I have poured into them. See I have 4 kiddos, according to my plan I was supposed to have boy, girl, boy, girl. Well imagine our surprise when our oldest was a GIRL!! No worries though, the disappointment of not having a boy first was literally non existent! She was healthy and I was so excited to finally be a Momma and that was all I cared about.

Then baby #2 was a boy and so was 3 and 4! LOL God sure does a have a sense of humor! And He also knows what we need before we even have a clue.

I have no idea what I would do without my little sweetheart being our oldest. She’s my right hand, my friend, and my boys… well God has used them to mold me into the Momma I am today and let me just say, this version of me is so much more well weathered, easy going, “can we do it? YES WE CAN!” attitude than I have ever been!

Now lets back it up just a few short weeks, say New Years Eve, when we’re all pondering the great wonders of 2018. What resolutions do I want for myself? What is God laying on my heart? Whats my WORD?!

I’m going to be really vulnerable for just a moment. My resolutions for this year… To regain the thirst I once had to learn Him more & instill that in my kiddos AND to achieve diamond (this is a rank in Young Living and we’re so close but thats a totally different story) but wait, there’s one that I wouldn’t write on paper, haven’t even said out loud, why, cause I’m scared!

I know this last one, the one that God has been whispering to me for months now, is going to require a lot! Its going to require me to give up other things, to inconvenience myself and to place some of my personal wants on hold… again.

This one is going to cause me to pray prayers that I question whether I can really say out loud and truly mean. Its going to require me to be even more present, purposeful and diligent…

This one that God has been whispering to me… be a better Mom! Teach them to love Him first in EVERYTHING!

Y’all this isn’t the norm. In the day and age that our children pretty much rule the roost and have TV as a babysitter for when we need to do that “one more thing”.

Now, you can probably understand why I jumped at the opportunity to read “Brave Moms, brave kids – “A battle plan for raising heroes”” at the very second I read that title!

Just the name of the book was pulling at my heartstrings! This thing that our good Lord is asking me to do, could He be asking it of others at the same exact time? And really sent a Momma on ahead of us to write it all down in a book?!

Why YES! Yes He did!!

Reading through this book is like having a Sister in Christ sitting beside me and having the frank conversations that we all need, but everyone is afraid to give. Motherhood is not a game, in fact scripture calls this life a war!

“We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” – Ephesians 6:12

Now we must be Brave! We must choose to purposefully raise our children in such a way that will bring Him honor! This is OUR leg to run! Jesus is with us! He promises to ever leave nor forsake us. Are you ready?

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths. – Proverbs 3:5,6

Dear Lord,
I pray that you will cover my new friends today. That you would equip them with everything they need to live this day victoriously for you. Help them to be a brave Momma so that we can all raise brave kids that will be a light unto this dark world. Your Bible tells us that you know the plans that you have for us, plans to prosper us and not harm us, to give us hope and a future and we trust in that. We trust in You. And we trust that you use our kids in a way that brings you honor and glory!
Love and prayers,
Donna

  1. You have brought me to tears, brought me to my knees. I wish I had had your insight, your courage when you and Jeremy were still my babies at home. How you have humbled me. I love you with all of my heart.
